In June 2022, Jonas was diagnosed with lymphoma. He went into remission quickly, thanks to a carefully thought-out protocol. Over the next year, Jonas developed a tumor in his spleen and a sarcoma on his side. Both were successfully removed. In May of 2023, the lymphoma returned. While he miraculously went into remission in October of 2023, it was too short. Jonas succumbed to the cancer in November 2023. We were grateful for each day we had with him.

Jonas' Joy began when making soft toys for Jonas and his sister, Arwen. While he was going through chemo, he didn't like crunchy food or hard toys, and these provided him with something he was happy to play with.

The care and compassion of his oncology team helped further inspire the creation of Jonas’ Joy and the desire to contribute to ongoing efforts in animal cancer research and treatment.
